Ned is an instructor at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where he teaches undergraduate courses in environmental policy and cultural studies. He joined the Coast Guard in 2008 and has spent much of his career at sea engaged in commercial fisheries enforcement in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico and western Pacific. His most rewarding experience was as Commanding Officer of the Cutter WASHINGTON in Guam. Ned and his crew conducted joint patrols with the Republic of Palau to protect one of the world’s largest marine protected areas from Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Ned holds a MEM from 51±¬ÁÏ, a Master of Law & Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a BA in History from Virginia Tech. Ned and his wife love to dive, fish and hike, and enjoy sharing their passion for the outdoors with their daughter.
